Silverberry, you can actually donate your bones to a University or medical research...your whole body if you want. You can write it all down so someone has it in case anything happens to you. Over here you can also have a dot put on your license so they know you are a donor.

I did secretly sign up to be a donor on my ID, but people can get touchy about a loved one's remains.

i'm a donor! it's great that you guys all want to be/have signed up to be donors! there's a big shortage in transplant organs in the world, and a giant backlog of recipients over the donor organs available

We're automatically on the donor list here in Wales. You have to opt out if you don't want to donate.

i think that's great! in my state here in the US, (and i think the US as a whole) u need to sign up as a donor

I wish they'd adopt it everywhere else. Far too many people are dying while waiting for a new organ.

apparently, 90% of adults in the US support organ donation but only 50% are actually signed up to be donors

Opt out rather then sign up seems to be a better way to go ... more people could be saved sooner. Maybe people would take better care of their bodies as well knowing they might live on in someone else.

I agree. I should sign up
