ooh, tinierme did have a thing where u could fish for CCs, fish or items or sth and then trade them in at the fishing booth for items (i dont remember much, it's been a loooooong time)

gaia had fishing I believe. And dumpster diving which is kinda similar in concept as you can get a random piece of junk or nice item or whatever daily...
