So today is my last day at home. I'll be returning to college tomorrow morning. I'm really excited. I also have done a lot of thinking. I'm stuck at a wall if I am choosing to move out this year or not. My decision was very difficult because I don't wanna keep leaving jobs and finding jobs. There isn't much on campus for the spring recently, so off campus is my only option. I decided to stay on campus another year until I am able to save enough money. I haven't made much recently and I haven't been able to save. Sad. If I find a roommate, maybe. As I don't really know many people and the people I know are just taken or I'm no longer friends with. .-.

I don't mind staying in a dorm, I just like being able to have my own bathroom, my own kitchen, my own space.

You've got it all figured out and have accounted for all of the options. Sounds like you're making the right decisions. Besides, it's only a few months until summer, so dorm or not, it's not very long. Kinda makes you want to get through school ASAP so you can get a real job and get your own place doesn't it! :)

It all falls into place once you get school out of the way. You're getting there!

Yeah, you'll get there eventually. It would just be best to continue saving for an apartment and focus more on classes than getting into an apartment. You know you'll get into one eventually, the right opportunity will present itself when the time comes.

sometimes you just have to bear with the not so pleasant stuff until the other opportunities come along. What allows you to live as economically as possible now will help you to live a little more comfortably later. If the dorm is cheaper then just try to bear with it. I hope you at least get to live around others who will respect your space and you.

The next two years will be tough because I gotta start thinking about my thesis for my senior year (from what a former coworker who is in the same major). I also need to start volunteering, finding internships, and I do not know how to even get my foot in the door at my location. Everything I could go is more than an hour away from my university. .__. Is college supposed to be this hard? Can I have a free pass? College: "No." D:

Are there specific requirements as to what they will consider for volunteer work? Because community service centers and groups are always looking for help. I know our local one asks for volunteers for landscaping as well as their events. Bird groups do festivals, humane society for pets, do you have a national park near you? Most of the time if you say you want to volunteer they will scoop you up. An hour away is quite far to have to go to do things.

I think the places Bassy is saying is over an hour away from campus are those national parks that are close by.

There may be state parks, county parks and city parks much closer. I would think they're all very similar and experience at one would be valuable at any of the others.

there is a state park in the city the university is in, so that is a definite possibility. There's a website for all the state parks in the state, so it'd be best to take a look at it. Might want to look more central than eastern because the city is considered central, lol. Barely.

There's actually 2 in the city. Two different kinds of state parks and though they're not necessarily the kind of parks she seemed like she was interested in working in, there's at least 2 choices there, close-by in the area.

If it is just a summer internship you can manage that and like Galled said, it would get you experience which gets your foot int he door so to speak. Then you may be able to transfer anywhere - and Yosemite has volunteers, I have a friend who does a "camp" she volunteers at there. She says they go on wonderful walks in the forest in their free time where she learns about the local vegetation and the stars she says are amazing. Maybe look into it and that would give you volunteer credit and you could have fun. Of course you'd have to come up with airfare to California ...so maybe something similar is offered in your area?

There's not a lot of woodsy type parks near her other than Cumberlands which is still a good distance away. It's mostly an old mansion and a location of an old fort.

Do they dress up for the old fort and have a museum, that would be so cool if they did? Do they look for archaeological artifacts still?
