Happy Near Year, everyone! ^^

Yesterday was my great-grandma's birthday, so our family gathered at her house for dinner. I really enjoyed being with my family, my heart feels full. <3

Then to start off the new year, my lower spine popped and slightly shifted while I brushed my teeth earlier, causing my legs and hips to go numb and me ending up on the floor not being able to move for about 15-20 minutes. It took me forever to reach for my phone due to the pain, but I eventually called my sister and she came to help me off the floor. Walking is uncomfortable and I can't bend over without feeling pain. @~@ I hope everyone's having a better start to the new year!

How lovely about the family time at the birthday party ... but OH NO on the spine!!

Does it dislocate often? I know I used to have problems with my knees doing that & it just immobilizes you. But I found a way to pop it back (although it stays sore for days) Is there a way you can get it popped back into place? Yoga? chiropractor?? That is so serious! Could you have called paramedics & had them pop it back?

Don't bend over! Did your Sister stay to watch over you?

Happy New Year!

Oh, so sorry about your back! You probably twisted oddly and bent or stood up at the same moment. I've done stuff like that (although not as bad as yours) a lot while working on my knees (on the floor, roof, and ladder, etc.). If you know where the pain started look for youtube videos on excercises and stretches to strenthen and/or build the muscles/ligaments that keep your spine aligned. It really helps and some can correct the problem in a few minutes. Should be required education for every human--good stuff to know.

Get better soon!

Yeah, my sister stuck around. The 2 hour drive yesterday from my great-grandparent's house to my apartment was rough. @-@ Last night I tried to stretch and pop my back, but none of it worked. I called out of work today and went to a chiropractor, who told me that my pelvis shifted and shifted the alignment of my back (he said my right leg was shorter than my left and I didn't notice). He did a few cracks to help readjust it for now, along with sending me stretching videos to follow, but advised that I come in for a few more appointments so he could follow-up and readjust my back to where it was. @-@ I'll definitely have to keep up with back strengthening videos moving forward. This is the first time this has happened to me.

Ah, I have had that. The old towel behind the knee extension while laying on your back stretch works. (Many vids on it). It's crazy how simple it is and how quickly it gets you back into form.

It's all part of getting old... :)
(Seriously, I think it's because we get less active after school.)

Hope you're "back" to your old self shortly! ;)

I am so glad you are doing better Arc.

I have had issues with one leg being longer/shorter, my physical therapist showed me some exercises to do. You
can check it yourself but is easier if you have help. Lay flat on your back & have someone hold your ankles. Then you sit up. If you are in alignment their hands should stay even but if not then you look at which hand is shorter & do stretches for that leg.

But it sounded like a little more then just that for you so a physical therapist can help you build muscles to keep the spine in place. Very easy & kind of silly feeling but they work! But if it keeps happening then you may want to get an xray to check your spine.

Hoping you are back to normal quickly!

galled, Do you know what I could search on YouTube to find those videos? :'O Would it be something like "back knee extension"? And my 30th birthday is next month, so my sister made fun of me saying that this is 30's way of letting me know it's coming. xD Cheers to getting older *clinks glass*

I'm able to walk better now, but the pain in my lower back is still pretty sharp and sitting is uncomfortable because of the pressure on my hips. The hardest part so far has been trying to adjust to sleeping on my back since I've been a stomach sleeper for most of my life. I also finally came back to work today and have been standing at my desk to alleviate the discomfort. @-@

Thank you guys for checking in. I appreciate the concern and the advice! <3

Did your Chiropractor think you may have slipped a disk? Or herniated a disk?

Do warm compresses help at all? You can make your own with fabric and rice as filling.

No, thank goodness. I'm going back tomorrow, so I could ask to double check. :'o

He also said not to use heat and to only use ice, but I wonder if it'd be okay to use heat now? x-x

Sorry for the delayed reply. (At the doc's this morning.)

I use duckduckgo.com (it has a better presentation format for videos).
Search for "uneven leg fix" "uneven leg excercises"
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=uneven+leg+le ... &ia=videos

There are a bunch of videos from a couple of goof-balls that are really very good. I'll post when I find them again.

I don't think you have a slipped disk. That is VERY painful and would have been recognized/identified by your practicioner.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the videos! I'll check them out when I get home. :3

Everything alright on your end? Were you at the doctor's for a checkup?

Always best to check with the Doctor.

Ice for inflammation for sure.

Hope you are feeling better everyday.

All of the videos have the same goal (realign/level your hips in relation to your spine). This is what makes one leg appear longer than the other (i.e. both of your legs remain the same length).

I'm fine. I was in to get my allergy shots. Thanks for caring!

My understanding is ice is best when used to stop inflamation and brusing--the cold helps reduce the flow of blood and fluids into the injured area (think cold causes fluids to slow down and/or thicken).

Cold is also good for pain (numbing effect) and reducing swelling (cold compresses/compacts/shrinks stuff).

Heat is used to move fluid away from the area--get the thickened/sluggish fluid moving by softening it up.

So it's cold at first and swapping between cold and hot afterwords.
