It's-a me [NEW]

Postby Pastrami » Wed Nov 02, 2016 10:07 am

Howdy y'all. My name is Roger and I'm new around here. I'm 21 years old and I'm from Georgia (the state not the country). I was looking around for avatar sites because I used to love them all the time when I was in high school and this place looked like my cup of tea. On the smaller side, nice avis, and from what I saw people looked friendly. I hope to become part of the community and be an active member. If anybody has any advice or wants to talk feel free to let me know and for the time being I'll fumble around trying to see how this place works.

Some things I like: Horror movies, languages, traveling, cacti/succulents, dogs, video games, food, talking, watching top 10s on youtube and Let's Plays, Pokémon

Hello Roger!
Welcome to Windlyn!

We have a really awesome community here, and I am sure you will make new friends in no time.

You joined in the middle of our Halloween event. If you see a "Trick or Treat" button, give it a click to get some items.

Do you speak multiple languages? If so, what are they and how long have you been speaking each of them?

I try to ask everyone who joins at least one silly question. For you:
Should pastrami be on your list of favourite things?
and
When sign makers go on strike, is anything written on their signs?

If you need any help or anything, please feel free to PM a staff member (moderators with blue usernames or me) or post in the help/support forum.

Hi, Diana. Thanks for the welcome. I did see the little trick or treat buttons on a few avatars and I kinda assumed it was an event or something so I've been randomly clicking them. They mainly just say something and say I 'did work' or something. Maybe my browser and my impatience didn't let me see if an item appeared or not but I did get werewolf hair to appear in my inventory which is pretty rad. I'm about to give that thread a read.

I'm sure I'll find someone to talk on here. I'm actually trying to convince a friend of mine to join because she also likes avatar sites. :V

More or less I do. I can use Spanish pretty well and I know enough to survive only on it, but I have also dabbled in Portuguese so there's that. In high school I took French and German and also taught myself how to read and write in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Korean. I can't say much but I understand their grammar and how to read the basics. I have been studying Spanish since I was 17.

Lmao. I chose my name because it was the first word I can think of when I decided to join. I like having weird names on websites without creating like an elaborate username so I tend to use random words that I don't think a lot of people would use as their username. Pastrami was my first choice. I also thought about using Ouroboros but I decided against it because I thought Pastrami was funnier.

That sign question was actually really funny. I chuckled. That is a good question though. D:

Oh I will. I already posted around a little bit, especially in some noob threads. I'm sure I'll get the hang of things soon.

That's cool! I have been picking up a little German because my work has an office in Germany and I work with them a lot. I only know things that would not do me much good such as "brutto" vs "netto", and "das ist keine Frage". No conversational skills, haha. Did your school offer french and german, or did you learn on your own?
What do you find to be the most difficult language?

Some people I know really like pastrami, I however do not like it at all. D: Pastrami is a funny name.
I had to look up Ouroboros! I didn't know that the self-eating snake had a name. :)

Hi, Roger!

Welcome again! Sorry, I guess the unread post function pulled up your other post before I saw this one.

Wow! That's an impressive list of languages! I only speak English, and bad English! (A quote from THE FIFTH ELEMENT I found funny at one time.) :)

When I think Georgia and Horror, I think THE WALKING DEAD. Do you watch that?

I'm a movie person. I like action/adventure, sci-fi, and historical genres. I used to like comedies, but I don't any that are very funny these days. Do you have any favorite movies?

@"Diana" I wish my German was better but all I can things like "Hallo mein Name ist Roger und ich bin einsundzwanzig Jahre alt", "Meerschweinchen" (guinea pig), "Schmetterling" (butterfly), and "Gänseblümchen" (daisy). My school offered French and that was my first language class I took, German was an online class, and I took Spanish the same year as those two. Japanese I studied myself but I only really studied some kanji and hiragana, Mandarin I studied myself too but all I can do is say hi my name is Roger and I'm American. Korean I did myself too but I can read the alphabet with little problem and I have books on it. For me I would say German has the most difficult grammar of the languages I know, Portuguese and Korean have the most difficult pronunciation, and Mandarin the most difficult writing. Mandarin has the easiest grammar, Spanish and Japanese has the easiest pronunciation.

I'm not a super big fan of pastrami either. Like I do enjoy it on sandwiches sometimes, but it's not my go to. I didn't know Ouroboros was its name either until one day I was playing Ni No Kuni for the PS3 and there was a snack that rolled around like a wheel with a name very similar to that word, so I googled it because I was curious on the meaning and found out.

PS. Did I write the ping correctly? @quote username quote?

galled Haha, no worries. :p
Sometimes my English isn't the best either and my friends jokingly like saying, "I thought you were a language major".

I do watch it. I actually recently started it a few days ago. A friend of mine was here when the season 7 premier happened and I watched it with him. I liked it so much that I was watching it on Netflix on and off since then. I'm only 2 or 3 episodes into season 2 now. Fun fact, the part of Atlanta they were in in the first episode was very close to were I lived. You could see the Georgia State University (where I went to) signs in some scenes. The scene where you could see the sky line when he was going into Atlanta was also near this apartment complex I was thinking about moving into.

I really like the Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street series. I also like Fight Club, anything Disney, Pariah, Psycho, and others I can think of at the moment.
