What kinds of stories to you like to write?

I wouldn't say you're late or anything, this is only my second day here after all! So far I've been enjoying perusing the site and playing a few forum games here and there~!

I'm still a little shy, but so far everybody has been so nice so it makes me want to put myself out there a little bit more...is there a good place to start for that? Are Guilds better or Hangouts or maybe The Lounge for casual discussions?

As for my writing...it really varies I guess? Like I mentioned in my first post, I enjoy Homestuck ( ) so I've written quite a few RPs and aus for that but I also have various personal OCs that I've been developing either by myself or with partners depending on the story and the genre for all of those can vary. I really just enjoy character building and world building in general, hehe!

Lemon is right (she's awesome!). When you feel comfortable, you can start your own hangout and see where it takes everyone.

Oh, I don't know Homestruck or what aus is/are?

Do you tend gravitate to certain genres?

Homestuck is a webcomic that defies the genre and the medium which it was made. It's a character driven story about growing up and also the end of the world. It's almost impossible to read online anymore because the actual site is broken, but I've linked a wonderfully maintained fansite that can explain it and help you to be able to read it better than I could.

An 'AU' is shorthand for Alternate Universe. What I meant by that is that I'll sometimes tell tales or RP in a universe that's not fully canon to the comic. For example, swapping the species or blood colors of certain characters and seeing what they would be like in that situation.

I'd say I gravitate towards Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Psychological Thrillers for when I'm reading. I love a nice Mystery or Crime story as well.

I love sci-fi, although I can't do the scary sci-fi, but I do love a good murder mystery.

I just watched the Thursday Murder club which was cute & well done I think, big name actors in it, made it perfect they are older & it is set in a senior living complex.

I love Time-Travel sci-fi stuff but you get a loooooot of undercooked stuff for that honestly! Black Mirror is a fun sci-fi anthology, but some of the episodes are scary!

I just looked that up, looks like it's also based on a novel! Might have to put it in my list on Netflix for later...and definitely watch it before reading so that I don't get mad about whatever changes they probably made!

I'm better watching before I read so I am not disappointed... especially if they don't put in favorite parts of the book.

I was so disappointed with the Eragon movie when it came out because I had high hopes for it after reading the series.

Now I find I have to look up how true to the books the movies are.

See, you get it! It's a much better experience for me to just watch the adaptations first before really digging into the books, much less stressful and I get pleasantly surprised by what I find in the book versions.

I'm right there with you with Eragon!!! I loved those books and the movie just did not deliver!! Though I guess to be fair, the book is so long and you only have so much runtime in a movie.

Ooo, I love sci-fi and time travel stories! However I will say that most time travel stuff causes logic issues for me, but when it works it's awesome. The latest thing I've been watching which I've been fascinated with is the Foundation series (Isaac Asimov). The way time and the universe is used simply blows me away. How Asimov (born 1920) came up with any of this stuff is crazy. It's also obvious how much he influenced other sci-fi writers (George Lucas took a lot of ideas from Foundation).

I liked Black Mirror, but it was a big uneven (some not great episodes), but I guess I compare it to The Twilight Zone where every episode was brilliant IMHO.

OK, alternate universe--yeah, it's that time travel vein. I like those too. I found The Man in the High Castle was very interesting. Then again, I suppose any futuristic stories kind of fit the the AU genre?

Do have any favorite psychological thrillers. Would Seven count?

I absolutely agree that most Time-Travel stuff ends up having a lot of holes in it so you have to go in knowing that most of what you find isn't necessarily going to be the best thing out there. There's a lot of content to wade through to get to the really good stuff haha! I haven't actually seen the Foundation series yet though! It looks like it's on AppleTV+ so I'll have to check it out, I don't often check there!

They can! But some stories are just like an alternate of what's going on now. Multiverse stuff has gotten a bit more played around with thanks to Marvel but I love stuff like Coherence for example! Though RPing with friends and making up AUs we're not necessarily going that far with things, ehehe.

OOF that's hard to pick! One of them I just mentioned though, Coherence is soooo good and it only gets better on rewatches to me. I'd say Seven counts! That was an excellent movie!
