LOL Well, they never talked back in any formal language. But then when most animals are having a conversation with you, it means they're listening to all the noise you're making and watching what your body says. It's kind of funny with domestic animals, because they DO understand a couple/five English words, and you'll see them respond to those sometimes when they hear them in the course of a yap at the critter session.

*nod nod* I suspect that I and many of my siblings notice it more because we've got some form of Autism, which can make people more sensitive to details.

LOL Some of my friends will show me animal videos or pictures and ask me what the animal is saying. Like the video of the Great Dane who is a little girl's helper dog. My friend thought that the big dog was sad, because he was walking with his head down as he helped his girl walk. But he was only contentedly bored.

if we paid closer attention and were more perceptive to body language maybe as a whole people would be more understanding and helpful - and less annoying or bullying sometimes

Ugh. Though I don't have the energy to rant right now. We had a wind and rain storm, and I went out in it, and now I feel like my brains are blown out.
