Voice acting sounds like fun!

Have you done any voice acting yet, either professional or for fun?

I actually am experienced in modelling and film acting and less so with voice acting. Ive only done voice acting a few times when I was younger. Its something I like doing for fun and would like to hopefully turn into a career now that Im getting back into cosplay (Im also chronically ill and film acting is too demanding, but I still wanna act/perform) :grin_wink:

Welcome back!

Good luck on your voice acting! I know a few people who have done that kind of work (actually I probably know more actors--but I used to live in Los Angeles where most people I knew were in the movie and TV businesses). Voice work is definately easier physically compared to acting, but it can be more demanding in other ways. Do you have an agent or how have you been finding work?

Anyway, welcome back. We'd love to keep tabs on your progress!

I am sorry to hear you are chronically ill, there are quite a few in our Windlyn community that suffer from autoimmune issues. Maybe we should start a help thread on here.

Unless a person has issues they aren't aware of how simple things like a virus can trigger issues in the immune system that end up being chronic. Or in my case how foods can trigger issues as well.

I have to be careful with things I eat or I suffer.

But on a brighter note, I love that you have actually been able to fulfill some of your acting & modeling dreams. Modelling is a very difficult field & acting is also hard to get into. I have some friends that do local theater & love it. They have other jobs so the theater is more recreational or a hobby interest.

Im on the west coast :cheer: I think all work is demanding in its own way, I just cant always stand around in makeup all day... for voice acting if I get tired, its still a lot easier on my body. Tho I do find it can be draining too cause so much energy goes into it and I move around if I get too into character haha I dont have an agent yet. I wanted to do some recordings first. And also save up for lessons, which will hopefully get me the right networking connections :scream: Whole new career is actually kinda intimidating.

Thank you so much, the support is really nice

thanks  yeah a support thread would be REALLY nice actually. I feel pretty isolated from people lately... I have autoimmune issues along with pain and generally ickyness. Been in bed a lot...Yeah I have so many dietary issues which is also frustrating when interacting with people irl. We could totally exchange recipes and such!

yes and no. I kinda removed my social media presence before I got sicker. So I have a lot to build up. Im pretty out of touch with everything. Its been 5 years since I worked or had a social media presence.Which is a big part of the arts these days. Ive decided instead of modelling I want to cosplay on my own terms. And for acting that being a VA goes so well with the cosplay! I might even do some twitch stuff? :cheer:

I'm surprised that autoimmune is as prevalent...I don't know if its because the medical field is recognizing (acknowledging it) more now or if there is something in our environment causing or triggering it? But I am happy to say those with issues don't have to be treated like it is all in their minds!

Progress is being made. I have a customer who has had MS (multiple sclerosis) for about 20 years or so & has managed it by diet. She follows a strict diet, a Doctor in California wrote the book & has a clinic & she saw him when she was diagnosed. She even had kids. She has to go in for regular appointments but she is very disciplined about following the guidelines in the book & highly recommends it.

Things seem prevalent online more than in person, in my opinion. But then again, I dont get out much lately maybe suddenly people will be less ableist  fingers crossed. One very known thing I have is celiac disease (as an example), and even professionals treat it like a joke (if they arnt a specialist). :scream: I use this as an example because products like gluten can be pretty bad for most people, as its stuffed in processed foods. So youll find a lot of people have a level of intolerance to things and people have always been suffering but changes in food might increase that for some? :strain: . People are using social media to talk about their specific conditions, making people connect the dots more about either themself or a loved one. General public has more access to knowledge and further researches are being done

Theres another big ol glaring reason youll find more people are disabled and have things like Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (which Im suspected to have) but I really dont want to get into pandemic stuff. Ive had friends with MS, even with diet its hell...

I am glad you mentioned POTS, the symptoms sound similar to something someone I know is having so I am going to tell them to take the test to check for it.

It is amazing how many of the autoimmune issues begin with a "rogue" virus. EBV, Ebstein Barr virus ( think mono)can cause chronic issues that can lead later to other problems like MS or lymphoma or fibromyalgia for examples.

POTS sounds similar that it can start from having a virus & be chronic & cause fatigue.

Like other autoimmune issues it sounds like POTS may benefit from a low sugar low carb diet. I know many of my issues subsided when I went to low carb diet. I rarely eat breads, pasta or rice anymore & my body seems to flow better & I don't get the debilitating intestinal pain. But cutting out breads means I don't eat wheat products & I try to stay away from processed foods as well. I am still working on some of the other issues I have, one being whether I am dehydrated as in low on electrolytes.

I had POTS before it was cool  /jk I have no memories of having a serious virus prior to my health issues (which have been ongoing my entire adult life yay), I did however have a breakdown? then again I get sick so often its hard for me to know if its "just a cold". I noticed fellow autistic people have a lot of the same uh health issues as me. So thats something else noteworthy. Lots of brain neurosciencey things there. Autistic people are prone to things like Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (there are studies atm). Which means some health concerns, especially those that are partly psychosomatic in nature, can be exasperated by  trauma  (the leading factor is autistic people are easier to traumatize weee)

My POTS advice is as such: lots of salt and pace yourself :grin_wink: and like use mobility aids if you need them. Things like POTS is frustrating because sometimes you are walking fine and other days you might need a cane and I guess imposter syndrome can get to ya :scream:

I too am dehydrated and low on electrolytes...it feels AWFUL :scream: what do you eat? I have cut out gluten. And lessoned my dairy products and also have to take Lactaids. Because I have ARFID, I struggle with food :worry: I keep wanting things that dont seem to have many good gluten free options. Like so many pizza crust taste like cardboard. I have found some nice pastas but they are expensive... What is the issue you find with rice might I ask? Do you enjoy lentils?

Haha rice gives me constipation ... though small amounts are ok & lentils horrible gas ... no matter how small the amount ... I like both though!

I don't do very much milk products ... I LOVE ice cream & ok if I keep it in small amounts ... a milk shake has me sick .

Moderation for some things & elimination for others, the important thing is to learn how to listen to our bodies.

I actually eat more nuts now, rarely ate them before ...almonds & now pumpkin seeds which have a lot of electrolytes. Walnuts I am allergic to so eat little of them but I am also allergic to fish so it makes it difficult to get my omega 3's.

My family have allergy issues, GIRD issues, celiac issues, lactose intolerant so I am doomed genetically I guess! My Sister can not eat nuts unless they are paste as it causes her pancreas to spasm, I had gall bladder pain, went on a gall bladder diet (reduced fats) & it eventually went away.

Anyway, I have learned to substitute foods & I get to be creative! And I think my digestion is better for it.
