Re: Space...Jupiter's Jovian swirls

Postby Lemon Cheesecake » Wed Apr 05, 2017 9:42 pm

Is this artwork ~ ? Kind of, it's natures artwork!
This enhanced-color image of a mysterious dark spot on Jupiter reveals a Jovian "galaxy" of swirling storms.

The image was acquired by NASA's Juno orbiter from 9,000 miles above the giant planet's cloud tops.
Citizen scientist Roman Tkachenko enhanced the color to bring out the rich detail in the storm and surrounding clouds.
The Juno spacecraft successfully entered the orbit of Jupiter on July 4, 2016. Image released on March 27.

Thanks Galled! Sometimes I wish I could be out in a starship looking at planets from above.

Cool new solar eclipse stamps coming out !

"The stamp will show an eclipse that transforms into an image of the moon from the heat of a finger. This is the first U.S. stamp application of thermochromic ink, the technology that makes the transformation possible."

Yes, that is pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen a heat transforming stamp before.

maybe you should suggest it to them... might get kids interested in stamps? But would make for pretty expensive stickers. However, I would probably go for it! What happens though is someone got sent a stamp and they are allergic to that scent?

Scratch and sniff stamps, lol XD
I know my mum used to collect stamps when she was younger. She has a whole cardboard box full of envelopes she kept for the stamps XD

I wonder... Would they have to come with a warning?

at least you don't have to lick the stamps over here anymore and -ewww can you imagine if everyone who touched the letter was licking the stamp to taste what flavor it was? <shivers, yuck>

I have gotten a paper cut on my tongue before! Now I just try to tape the edge down instead. Fortunately they have come out with a peel and stick for envelopes now.

I could go for scratch and sniff stamps! I am excited to see the thermal ink stamp and see how long it remains at the moon portion of the stamp.
