The sun is massive and a single revolution is probably on that scale (our orbit lags behind). The anomaly/feature on the sun that causes these events position is known.

The moon last night was big & yellow. It looked so cool!

Eleven years doesn't seem that long ... I would think a solar cycle would be centuries or eons... a decade seems trivial.

I had an idea for celestial magic on the walk home today

Ya know how some magic systems have runes or symbols or something similar?

Well, I had a thought for a magic system where the runes are actually constellations!
