The sun rises in the East. Face East and North will be approximately off your left shoulder. You can get an app for your cell phone that will show you the constellations--they're very cool!

The North star is also at the end of the handle on the BIG dipper.

Look to the right of that star & then slightly down ...maybe that helps.

I had a couple friends who got to see bright meteors with long trails but they actually stayed outside of an hour so their eyes adjusted to the night sky.

I'll give it a better shot tonight.... last night I just looked out the window from a darkened room because I didn't want to get any bug bites!!
