“Is this a thing?”

Postby Vivianne » Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:39 pm

For all those questions that seem too odd to google!

Because my dad added lemon juice to a clear liquid at dinner tonight. The liquid was in a crystal goblet and he usually has some kind of wine with dinner.

Do people add lemon juice to wine or the like? Is this a thing?

I've never tried lemon juice in wine...was it white wine? Now I'm curious as to how it tasted! If it was a margarita I'd add lime!

Mmm I've seen lime with beer, tequila, or vodka, never heard of it with wine though!

I've tried lemon flavoured vodka before but I've never heard of someone putting lemon juice in wine O-O

That's a new one to me. I've heard of mixing white wine with fizzy lemonade.

Just reread the first post...clear liquid indicates vodka...and juice and vodka often tastes better then wine (in my opinion).
so if it is vodka, then no, it is not unusual.

But fizzing lemonade (is that a soda pop?) with wine would probably make it into a sparkling wine with more bubbles.

Uh, I don’t think he drinks vodka. He is fond of sake, but that’s a bit cloudy.

I think maybe they misheard me and it was indeed water! Misunderstandings due to my communication issues aren’t usually this funny.

Lemon - yep it is. My fiancé has just reminded that mixing wine with fizzy lemonade is called a lemonade spritzer.

MissAutumn - interesting!

In my dad’s case, he was definitely using lemon juice from those lemon-shaped squeeze bottles, which is why I’m so weirded out.

Maybe he’s trying to drink more water.

He could have been. It's something I do to get myself to drink more water.

lemonadse spritzer sounds like something i'd like to drink right now!

My next suggestion was to be lemon in water. Over here the restaurants often put a slice of lemon in your water...its so prevelant you almost have to ask them not to!

I have no clue why he’s drinking water from crystal but okay.

He did it again tonight. This is a new habit I suppose.

Silence is bewildering.

Can't you ask him? Is it some special celebration? birthday or anniversary or is he just trying to use the dishes?

I keep forgetting I can text him lol. My speech is mostly garbled, so when I asked if it was water I think they misheard or didn’t hear or were distracted.

Nothing’s going on!
