Check out this link and see if it doesn't boggle your mind on how massive space is!

In a fascinating 2014 study for Nature, a team of scientists mapped thousands of galaxies in our immediate vicinity, and discovered that the Milky Way is part of a jaw-droppingly massive "supercluster" of galaxies that they named Laniakea.

Some of the stars you see are actually distant galaxies.

I'm taking astronomy and went to the planetarium, where everything looks first person, like it's actually happening and we zoomed out to the edge of the universe. The experience was out of my world. Lol!

here's an interesting article on the development of the English language, check out the link below. Just an excerpt :

British Loyalists flooded into Canada during the American Revolution. As a result, Canadian English sounds a lot like American English, but it's maintained many of the "ou" words from its British parent (honour, colour, valour). There's also some uniquely Canadian vocabulary, many of which is shown in this word cloud. Canada is undergoing a vowel shift of its own, where "milk" is pronounced like "melk" by some speakers. But unlike British and American English, which has a variety of regional accents, Canadian English is fairly homogenous.

there is a map of solely Canadian words used by us Canucks - anyone hear of nanaimo bars? Chinooks? Eh?

Couldn't resist....

It's said that he who smelt it dealt it, but in this case everyone smelt it -- and it was so bad an airplane was forced to make an emergency landing.

A British Airways flight that was traveling to Dubai on Thursday night instead returned to England when a "smelly poo" in the toilet made continuing to the final destination untenable, according to the Mirror.

The cause of the unplanned landing was revealed by British politician Abhishek Sachdev, the Hertsmere councilor who represents Potters Bar Parkfield in England.

yawns? Are you just tired or bored? What is it you are interested in then, Hero? My thread is "science and other amazing topics" so you are welcome to post scientific or healthful subjects, new discoveries etc. Lately, I don't see you posting anything other than complaining in threads. Right now I see some relevant and interesting threads with specific topics on WIndlyn, which you said you were wanting, but I don't see you contributing in a productive way. Want to discuss robotics? I'll join in. Microbiomes? Current events? Start some threads.... or you are welcome to join in the existing discussions.

Oooh I love these kinds of topics! ovo I have got to look at that one about canadian english, being from newfoundland and all.

Did you know there is actually a "newfinese" aka "newfie" aka "newfoundland english" to english dictionary in existence ?

some of the terms in it are kind of funny how most people use them. like Slut it is a tin can or other similar thing that you take into the woods with you while camping to use as a makeshift kettle.

so whenever someone calls me one i go "well at least i'm useful while out camping"

i die at the confused looks on their faces.

I am still laughing over that line, Maro! I'll have to remember it, but I hope you don't have to use that line too often! Didn't know about the newfoundland english but it does make sense.
