Good idea

Noice

Last night was the grand reopening
I expected it to be hectic. A big load, shelves in a mess from customers grabbing things with no regard for neatness, that kind of thing
But it went surprisingly smooth!

That's great!

I read through this thread to catch up yesterday but was too busy to comment. ^_^;

It is indeed!

That's oki! I'm happy you're finding the time to read my silly stories!

One of my coworkers decided to quit instead of continue working when the store opened, but I have him on Discord and he said he'd like to hangout sometime!
Also my new night crew manager has told me he's stepping down from being manager

Wow, management stepping down is pretty heavy changes.

Nice one of your coworkers will stay in contact.

Sounds like people were anxious to have your store reopen... then again I go into some stores and its like a disaster hit, what's up with people ???

Then no real loss, management is more difficult to do then most people realize. But being in the position of doing management but not having the authority is a lot more frustrating. And when the business is running smoothly why mess it up with new rules ... we just end up going back to the old way that works anyway. <that's my rant for the day>

I like when I can do my job & go home & not have to be on call or worry about work. People who have their own businesses are like 24/7 working.

Yeeee

I agree, as much as I'd like to be my own boss, I don't want to be responsible for everything I do, or worse, everything a group does

So they decided to enforce the rule of "you need to finish x amount of boxes in x amount of minutes"

Completely disregarding the fact that different boxes take different amounts of time to complete

Or the fact that most of us are new to this job, or if not the job at the very least the new layout

Or the fact that it's already stressful with it being the holiday season

But nooo, we HAVE to get things done on time!

The new franchisee has everyone on edge

And that just added to it

I wasn't the only one stressed, from what I could tell EVERYONE was stressed

One guy couldn't complete his aisles and the manager had to write a note to a higher up telling them about it

So now this new friend who shares many of my interests is worried he might get fired, since during probation they don't need to give you a reason

So yeah, annoying and stressful

*chimes in*

That all does sound very stressful. I feel bad for your coworker, too, having to deal with that uncertainty. :/

As long as as he shows improvement, he'll be fine (the improvement will come when the holiday rush subsides). It takes multiple write ups before being fired. It's all a learning process right now for the new company, new workers, and transitioned workers. Every level-headed person knows that.

Yeah, luckily I feel pretty safe, but it's worrisome for the others who are newer

Here's hoping!

Problem is it seems people don't like our new franchisee

However, this new system has introduced an... unexpected opportunity
My mom has come up with a strategy to help me keep up the speed
Now to keep me motivated so I didn't fall in to a rut multiple strategies were implemented, one of which was the ability to buy myself one gift a month if I did well that month, problem is motivation and speed are different things
Now though, she has come up with the brilliant idea that if I can go a month with no write ups and as few warnings as possible, the gift I can buy for myself can be a Lego gift, something she had been denying me since last Christmas, since she doesn't want me putting too much on display (tbh I don't care as much about the sets as I do the character mini figures), so if, by January 20th, which would be one month since we came up with this strategy (December 20th), I have consistently delivered speedy results in my job, I can get a Lego set, which imo, is an awesome deal, and I already have some planned

Long story short, if I do well at work I can get a Lego set

That's awesome and good motivation!

One of these days you should try convincing her to split that Bionicle set with you. :grin_wink:
