I saw a short skit on red envelope money, about how the parents "hold on" to it, but actually keep it and justify it by the fact that the child is I debt to them for the amount of food they eat, piano lessons, etc, lol

Happy Belated Lunar New Year & Valentines Day!!!
I got dragged out to visit relatives because it's my first time being on vacation during this time period. Didn't get this time off during college so it's a busy one this year :"D Things are pretty much back in full swing since there are barely any restrictions left, but i'm glad at least half the people I see in this town are masking up!
Would love to stay home so I can finish these items faster, but alas

I think that really depends on how old the kid is and parenting habits. I did let my parents hold onto my red packets when I was really young, but not anymore It's a lot easier to receive them without parental control with electronic payment methods being a thing now too!

I'd say the amount really depends on the family customs. The closest relatives (could be friendship and not necessarily by blood relation) usually give the most money in mine, but the standard amount to give a distant relative is about 3 USD. Which was a lot to me when I was a kid haha

If you are giving out a lot of envelopes then I think a person would put less in each but for closest family then more.

Have you been successful with job hunting ShiroGem? Or are you still on a break from finishing school?

I guess we shouldn't be surprised that that E-payments for red envelopes would eventually come about, but I always liked the envelopes. I've kept a collection of them when I was younger. They were almost like fantasy cards (dragons, etc.). Kind of loses the fun of it all...
