Technically all the mechanics do
It's just the super high finicky shit like line on fire happens when tool room is gone for the night and they're the ones with the equipment to really deal with that shit
I wouldn't be surprised to find that they check and fix and then the line does it again anyway tho

More importantly it's disappointing when it doesn't set off the fire alarms
I did get to throw a bottle that was on fire once tho, that was fun

Not setting off the fire alarms is scary.

If they had set off the fire alarms chances are good the machine was engulfed

Also the bottle on fire was a different line they were trying something out on and it was one of their biggest indicators that it wasn't working. Took idk how many wrecked bottles but they did eventually give up on it

I appreciate the safety conditions of where I work even more now.

Day light hours are getting longer, so nice.

We have safety. It's just we have a lot of stuff that uses fire and once in a blue moon something catches on fire that shouldn't be on fire

The bottle thing was in '23

Though occasionally a bottle gets stuck at the start of an auto printer in such a way it get scorched, or on the manual lines the trimmer isn't paying attention to the fact that the printer is on another line dealing with an auto printer (or changeover) and keeps sending bottles until they're stuck past the flametreater and thus bottle on fire, or at least partially melted and extremely stanky. There's one person in particular who is extremely guilty of that, though he hasn't done it in a couple years. I think it finally got beat into his head that he can't just send them without keeping an eye on the printer
Trainees pick up on that faster than he did -.-"

Oh, the machine uses a flame as a heat source like a heat gun would? I'm sure the flame is faster/hotter with a wider contact area. Probably cheaper to run too compared to an electric version.

To melt down the excess plastic, yeah
And take off the film that otherwise prevents the ink from sticking. Which is funky to see an untreated printed bottle. Preferably before it goes through the oven
The auto lines handle all that on their own. The manual lines the top is manually trimmed anyway and the bottle goes down a belt to be drilled and go past a flame treater in the process

That's also ignoring the soldering that three spots in my area has, as well as press row and metals

I dint think there'll be any of where I work, but if you're looking for stuff made by blow molders there's definitely stuff for that out there. I've seen them for the big-ass water jugs and canoes
