The Marimo Tank

Welcome to The Marimo Tank where the fish are plenty and the water is always warm! Glub Glub.
So pull up a Marimo Ball, take a seat and lets make a community tank of friends!

No real rules here, but I do not take kindly to making people feel uncomfortable in this habitat. So please, don't start pushing it with people or asking weirdo questions.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and that they enjoy my little hangout, I've never done one before. So please be nice? ;u;

Fact: Marimo Balls are often called Moss Balls, but they are not moss at all! They are actually a species of algae called Aegagropila linnaei. The name comes from the Japanese word that literally means 'Ball Seaweed' but they were first found in the 1820's in a lake in Austria. They are amazing at keeping your tank clean from other algae as they eat up the nutrients that other more harmful algae need to spread! Plus, who wouldn't want a cute little green ball of fluffy algae floating around in their tank?

MystMist

They kinda feel like... spongy moss? They definitely have some mass to them but they also have a bit of give when you squish them to get the water out (which cleans them of dirt and debris). The closest thing I can liken them to is... probably some form of short-bristle carpet, soft but firm.

Yes. I had them set to spin how they do in nature, and this caused them to grow and multiply VERY QUICKLY. My Marimo balls were HUGE and I had them in all sizes because they continued to multiply constantly for no reason. And sometime when they multiplied, I'd leave two stuck to eachother and they would grow a heart or an oval, or a pairs of testicle. D:
