Thankfully my only experience with hornet or wasp nests has been minimal.

Fortunately cooler weather should deter them from coming back.

I watched some YouTube vids on hornet nest eradications--overwhelmingly what not to do things!

Fire is bad idea...

Their nests being poisoned to where they were pouring out dead is also a good deterrent
Plus ball hornets don't take over dead nests so far as we're aware. They make all new ones

The one time we had an ant problem it turned out one of the cats had gotten a bird and brought the corpse in so they were just cleaning it out
By the time we realized the corpse was just bones

Ants are relentless cleaner-uppers...

My deal I have with them is I clean up the inside of my house and they get to clean up outside. But there's always wise ants or two who didn't get the memo!
