There's a lot of options other than boba/tapioca pearls: sago pearls, grass jelly, pudding, coco gel, and so on.

Boba remind me of how frog eggs look like. The texture makes me think they might be the same - if I were to eat a frogs egg. Boba Taste is kind of bland.
I like gelatin but not when it is chewy & boba is chewy ... unless there are other types of tapioca beads?
