I heard somewhere that if you think about what you want to dream about before going to bed, you'll have a chance at dreaming about it.

This is from a Wall Street Journal article that I found:

"Scientists who study dreams say the answer may be yes. They point to a small yet emerging body of research that shows that we most likely can, at least sometimes, decide what to dream before we go to sleep and then take some control of our dream while it's happening."

Idk what the rest of the articles says cause I'm not paying to read the rest, so idk if it all correlates with what I'm saying, but I thought that excerpt was pretty neat.

My problem is I think about what went on throughout the day or week & whatever shows I watched just before bed trickle in there too. I have tried making up stories to fll asleep to but the rest just trickles in.

Someone gifted me a book on explaining what symbols in the dreams mean a few years back, I should pull it out & take a look again. Like if you dream of a river, or ocean or road or type of car etc.

I love looking up symbolism in dreams. Often times they tend to relate almost too perfectly to my concerns or what's going on in my life.

I noticed sometimes my dreams will be interrupted by sudden dreams of birds or spiders (my fears). My old boss told me that our brains will show us our fears as a way to wake us up. These dreams usually happen if I'm oversleeping or if I need to wake up to use the restroom. x-x

Oh that would make sense then why I start having vivid or weird dreams when I should be getting up!

I can fall asleep watching a documentary & then got to bed & not be able to fall asleep, I don't get it.

I used to have an app where I wrote my dreams, and it would underline key words which I could select to see the possible meanings

Baking day didn't go so well! I should've read the instructions on what a "water bath" actually meant. I sat it up like a steamer does & it should've sat in the water... oh well, tastes okay, just didn't cook right.

Sorry I haven't been around you guys. I've been looking for work and still no luck. Now I'm focused on getting my driver's license instead. I may do security work though, fingers crossed. And I have been worried with stuff in the family. My dad got a biopsy done a few weeks ago because they found a black mass in his lung. The results came in yesterday and it turned out that it is cancer. We don't know how bad it is though, they're going to send him to see a specialist. So we'll get an answer after all that I guess.

Drivers license is a good idea, especially when looking for work ( moves you up the approval list).
Plus improves your resume.
Yay on you making steps to accomplish it. There are practice tests online & see if you can find the routes your DMV use for the tests & practice driving those.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad! On a positive note, I know someone who had lung cancer 40 years ago, got part of his lung removed (like most) & is still doing well & cancer has not returned. There are some adjustments & he did quit smoking because of it. Medical advances are much better now. Still, the journey of getting to the place where the cancer is gone can be difficult. Fortunately it sounds like he has family to support him through it.

Will keep you & your Dad in my prayers.

I have taken the practice tests online and I've passed each one. I have them all written down and I'm just reading through them now once a day. I'm pretty confident that I'll pass the written exam and I have practiced driving with my mom but once I pass the written exam, I really want to practice even more so that I'm better suited to take the actual driving test. That's a good idea though about the routes!

Well my dad did quit smoking years ago but I guess it still had an effect on him from all the years he did smoke. That story is reassuring though. I just hope what he has isn't too serious and can be dealt with somewhat easily. Like you said, medical advances really are better now so there's a better chance of recovery now than there was in the past. I know it can't be easy but yeah he has a big family that's going to look out for him. He doesn't seem upset about it which is good, he still has a positive attitude and cracks jokes every now and then. I still worry though, especially for my mom.

Thank you Lemon, I really do appreciate it.

Nice to hear from you, JinMay !

The biggest thing to remember re: your driving test, they want to you to pass and if you fail (an outside chance), you can always take the test again and again!

Sorry to hear about your dad. He has a good attitude. Not all lung cancers are malignant so you're both in my prayers as well. Having a good family support system it will make it all a lot easier.

@galled: That is true. You are able to take it again as many times as you need but I think they charge you to take it again after a few chances right? Or is that only for the written test?

He's always been a goof. I worry more about how my mom is handling it. She puts on a brave face but I'm sure she's terrified. Thank you so much, really it means a lot to me and my family. I will be sure to update you guys if anything happens. Fingers crossed that it isn't too serious.
