Had to put a cat to sleep today. Too much going on and between age and condition, he wasn't going to be likely to handle treatment, so this was the better option
Having him in my lap as he drooped and stopped breathing was fucking terrifying tho
We did end up going to the same vet his mom is at (we think she ate a frog or something cuz she was suddenly lethargic, just waiting for her to eat on her own and they can remove the feeding tube and release her) and hoo boy was she happy to see dad n me

oh I am so sad for your loss, Kit, and how difficult it must have been to make that final decision, but how comforting for your cat & what a peaceful way to go, lying in the arms of someone who loves you.

He knew where it was and had the cat carrier so it was easier to have him come along

But yeah, Corbin's mom, Jazz? She's so over being there. Partially shaved, feeding tube up her nose, leaky butt, cone of shame. She was happy that she was brought in to see us. She crawled into my lap, wanted to go on dad's shoulders but he told her no, not right now. All she needs to do is eat on her own and off goes the feeding tube and cone, and away she goes
She's got a hospital bracelet style collar, which has her info and marks her as friendly

I hope Jazz is starting to eat. I wonder if she had been sensing her son was sick & part of her lethargy was that?

She was in the vet before Corb started showing his symptoms full blast

They're removing the feeding tube in case that's why she's not eating. She's shown interest in food, at least
But I guess tomorrow she's getting picked up either way. Big Guy is gonna be escatic...for about an hour and then he's gonna ignore that she's back. Because he's orange

There is a reason why, when putting cats in categories (not official cat show ones), one of them is simply the word orange. Because that's how orange cats are

Someone outside is either shooting a lot (practice, prolly) or doing loud construction work. Leaning to the latter cuz of how it sounds
