Yes, we all have to jump over the hurdles each every other day. I did slept and still feeling tad tired for trying to reset my sleeping schedule. Yet, I managed to help my Mom with her mom, my Greek Grandmother with dementia and went to the store with my Dad.

An older person with dementia is so difficult to contend with because they don't understand why they should or should not do something ... they don't understand the dangers.

Sometimes people with dementia respond to music they used to know, it can trigger past memories. Maybe sing some "old" songs with your Grandma!

I commend you for helping your Mom, Flaria.

Resetting our sleep schedule really disrupts things. Hope you get rested soon.

It's like dealing with a child who doesn't yet know the dangers of the world, except in this case they think they know better already

She mostly respond to music half of the time and she used to watch TV like A LOT but now.. nope, can't stay still very long to watch TV. She would get up and try to look around to mess stuff to leave it alone like any growing toddler. xD I do the graveyard shift since, sometimes, she wakes up late at night and I tend to stay up really late. She is pretty good for her age of 89 and this year she will be 90 in March. Oh boy. My Mom told me I'm good at this stuff since I have a lot of patience and assure her to be positive(which she always rather to be positive and laugh more). She is truly stubborn at night than she was during the day. Lately, she gotten more active and keeping an eye on her from walking and making sure she doesn't trip or try to touch things to taste, etc.

Working with people that have dementia requires more than one person. Each one is different, morning is much easier on my Mom while at night, I pay more attention even during the day.

My grandma has something memory related but she's out of the province somewhere

But my dad says that when he calls sometimes she doesn't remember conversations they had the previous day

This kind of thing is really sad and tough, so I send you my best wishes. Hang in there, ok?

Looking after dementia patients is time consuming & exhausting & the more people that can help out the better, whether just having someone come in & clean or cook to relief the main care givers in some way.

There is a hospice program here that someone trained will come in for a couple days a week to relieve the care giver. Not sure if you have a program where you live? They also can assess medical issues & dispense medications.

I applaud you on your patience Flaria & your willingness to help out in your Grandma's care.
Putting a person in assisted living where they need constant monitoring is Like $10,000 or more a month over here. It is very sad to see a person go downhill mentally & physically but at least if they still have their wits about them you can still reason with them & explain what is going on.

Getting called in to work when you have other plans is not fun ... but at least being called in shows they need you!

Well I was only going to be in Sunday Wednesday, but Sunday evening I looked to see next week, and decided to check this week schedule as well, to be safe, and saw that I was now in Monday (last night) as well, so it's a good thing I checked!
