I mean I could but if I could do it why not? Don't wanna blow money on something I can do myself, you know?

I like the DIY too! (Do it yourself). Got to love shows "like This Old House, that show you how to do things."

Just throwing the idea out there. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself than more power to you.

That's the way I feel about it too. If i can do the job I will do a better job than anyone I can pay to do it simply because I care more than a hired gun.

I usually feel like I don't know what I'm doing lol
I really admire those that can figure stuff out for themselves and go and get it done.

When you hire someone you are giving them an opportunity to work. However, shop around and get reviews about the quality of their work. And if you are helping someone out by letting them paint, for example, be there to supervise because I have seen some messy jobs!

Hey, all! Long time no talk! :cheer:
I made some glass wind chimes today and attached all kinds of beads. Not going to lie, it's kind of ugly lol. But I am in love with it. I've decided to do something new once a month (since I only get paid once a month!) and I did some glass fusion. It was really fun and the teacher was super creative. Next month, I am going to learn to paint skin and hair with acrylics and I've bought a watercolor kit as well.
Sometimes I just really crave being creative but it's been hard to do since I have been so busy at work.
I've also been training my dog and so far he knows: sit, lay, place, and paw! I want to be able to bicycle with him on a trail though but I've got to wait to learn that :)

What is glass fusion?

It's always good to scratch the old right side of the brain now and again! Too much left brain makes me dull. :(

Sounds like the training is going great! Have you learned from a book or YouTube? There seems to be a couple schools of thought on what works well. I've always wondered is certain breeds respond better to one than another.

Its pieces of glass that you place together and melt in a kiln to make artwork. Mine is Jellyfish windchimes, it's not the greatest but it was my first try!
Here is an example:Image
It was really fun! I liked the teacher she was really friendly!
And I agree it gets really boring after a while!

He learned paw and sit from me! I got a trainer as well so I go once a week and he learns something new!

Wow! You are inspiring! What a great goal!!

Glass fusion looks so cool and I can absolutely imagine how it would work perfect to make jelly fish out of!
I am assuming you have to use a kiln because an oven probably would not get hot enough to melt the glass?

I always love looking at stain glass windows and little sculptures out of glass. It is quite the art to learn.

Stunning! Do you melt that into a mold to obtain the outer shape or do you grind it down afterwards.

You carve the outer shap to be what you want it to be. They usually have a clear outer shell and then it comes in different shapes/ sizes. But there are different colored backgrounds too!

Yeah, a stove would not be hot enough to melt the glass, well most of them. Usually, they go to like 550 or so and I think glass needs 1500!
