I bet the Russians were like we have enough snow already over here near Russia. Why do we want the snow over there too?

Canada was slow to the ball.... although I guess they were still a newer nation at that time and didn't have the foresight or money to protect their borders at that time

Taiwan isn't really a country either but I wished it was recognised. Though doing so might piss China off... c':

It's not officially recognised I believe and it isn't in the United Nations either. As far as I know it's because China can veto if it chooses to join and since Taiwan used to be considered as part of China... yea. Endless struggles of recognition I guess. c': The government and currency are different though, and many Taiwanese people don't like being called "mainlanders" so they try hard to establish their independence.

Really? We tend to reserve the derogative term of mainlander for the actual chinaborn peeps. It's just offensive to label Taiwanese like that lol

Yea that's the thing, since Taiwanese migrated from China, they are Chinese. c': Yet they refuse to be part of or thought of as the same thing. OTL

over here, mainlander usually refers to those that live on the mainland and islanders to those that live on an island near by. I had no clue about Taiwan not having its own independence though.

In Chinese it's equivalent to "Hong Kong People" but that's a common prefix. I call myself a Hong Konger xD
