Work specifically gets the Shield brand, but one of my friends who works elsewhere also gets them distributed but their place uses a different one...which has blue raspberry as an option

Is mid-afternoon here, hot hot hot. Nice breeze though, so I've got doors and windows open to help downstairs cool down. Upstairs has a large (expensive) a/c unit, which has the goal of keeping upstairs from being something like 10-15° warmer than downstairs. It fares nicely, sometimes upstairs is slightly cooler it generally it's a touch warmer or even

Because cool air sinks, A/C upstairs can cool the downstairs a bit--at least in theory.

A nice cool popsicle sounds nice about now...

WOW!!

it has been two years already ???

CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Doesn't sound like you ended up needing to bring in a renter to help cover mortgage like you thought you might have to?

A renter would help with the stuff I've been putting off, like the bathroom and back porch both needing to be redone

Bathrooms are important to keep up.

Are you researching what you want to do with the bathroom & looking for price sales?
Are you & your Dad planning on doing the renovations yourselves?

I know what i want for the full bathroom: tub becomes shower stall. Floor redone. Toilet redone. Sink vanity replaced with a much smaller one
But toilet and floor are the main ones, and since I don't want or need some convoluted fancy toilet with gizmos and gadgets, that's something like $100 for just the toilet

HAH. No. Dad doesn't have the steadiness and I don't have the strength. A professional can do it

Most toilets are two pieces (three if you count the cover), so they're not that heavy if you move a one piece. Either way, paying someone to do it works if you can swing it. Yeah, the floor needs to be done first.

How the hell are they more than one? You mean like the body, the tank cover, and the seat???

It is hot, muggy, and the grass is turning brown

A standard toilet is a bottom, tank, and tank cover. A "one piece" toilet has the bottom and seat all in one and a tank cover.

Preeeeeeetty sure the tank is the same piece as the bowl, but I'm not going head-first into the cobwebs to check

Well, temps dropped. It's actually kinda chilly outside now

If you take off the tank cover and look in you'll see large screw heads at the bottom of the tank if it's a standard "two piece" toilet. Single piece toilets are more expensive than standard ones, so most homese have standards.

Enjoy the cool while you can!

The inside of the tank looks rusty from years upon years of hard water, so if there is any they're invisible

It doesn't really matter what the old one is if you're going to replace it. It's just that you can move a new two piece toilet in pieces to get into tight places or carry up stairs for example.

To get the old one out, I've broken them down into pieces using a hammer and sticking pieces in a 5 gallon bucket to carry them. Just make sure you shut off the water and drain it completely before you do it! ;)

Do you have a second bathroom in your home?
