That'll complicate a bathroom remodel... no toilet for more than a few hours is a big problem.

The idea is I stay with my parents for the duration
...whose house is SIX bed one bath
Dad wants to put in at least a half bath somewhere cuz then the value for the house will massively jump, but the only place they can really do it is the not-really-finished basement. However, they just shrank the front porch and that exposed a ton of water damage so that's not happening anytime soon

Is there plumbing (water and sewage) in the basement? I knew a family that had a toilet in their basement that sat out in the open . No walls, no stall. No sink, no shower or tub. I never asked them about it, but my guess is they had the major headache part installed & moved to other priorities. In the mean time they could use the toilet and wash up elsewhere.

Yep gotta stop the water damage so it doesn't spread...

Sounds like a lot to think through.

I guess there is always the rent a port a potty while construction is being done. They did that at work when the building was being remodeled, they have a toilet & sink .

I have no idea, my grandpa is the one who built the house. The phone lines for dial-up criss-crossed every which way down there

Yeah the water damage got fixed. So the porch ended up costing about twice what they wanted

My guess would be there's no drain. Do you have an area with adjacent walls, floor, or ceiling to where you have plumbing that there may be space to build a half bath? Trying to retrofit a drain in a basement is really difficult (you have to dig into the basement floor, which mean cement much of the time) unless you want to get into pumps and stuff. (*Don't*) Water wants to go downhill.

Building a bathroom (a new room) out the side of your house might be an option too, but it needs to be near plumbing to be cost effective (like near the kitchen or laundry hook ups).

That's a relief the water damage has been handled. Did they find the source and address it?

Idk, it's not my problem

Iirc the porch wasn't built right. It was a giant concrete slab that wasn't properly done right or something

Mom said monday morning the contractor will be over so hopefully I can talk to him about my bathroom...if I can be awake at that time

Dad ordered soft serve ice cream
It was hard enough to nearly break the spoon

That's crazy, I wonder how it even got out of the machine?

I haven't had soft serve ice cream in a long time, most places around us, other then frozen yogurt, don't serve it anymore.

Yep, if it isn't done right it will fail 100%.

Keep us posted! Interested in what the contractor says.

Came out with an almost perfect 50/50 split of chocolate and vanilla

There's a pair of dedicated ice cream stores in town, one for the east side, one for the west. There's a kiosk of one (not literally a kiosk, but very small building) in another town about half an hour out, and I know there's others but I haven't been to them

Oh man today was terrible. Heat advisory and we had one of the manual lines running so when trimming they were easily at 110+, higher when getting the next shot
Inside was 100+. Thank fuck for the fans

So sorry... did they break out the popsicles?

Stay hydrated! Is the heat due to subside soon?

They did. And some other stuff, effectiveness varied from item to item

It was a nine hour advisory, today is ten degrees cooler. Still stupid hot but a lot more bearable
