To make everything worse, my guess is at least one was started by an arsonist. The first one (Palisades) started as a backyard fire.

A good time to examine what kind of emergency kits a person has.

Everything important should fit in a back pack you can grab & run. Sadly with the Palisades fire it sounds like people evacuated their cars & ran on foot, which makes the emergency backpack theory even more valid.

Oh no that is awful! But glad they survived!

I am not sure on how insurance claims handle loss by fire but hopefully they can get some kind of replacement value ... although car lots lost many vehicles so I wonder if that will spike up the cost because of demand?

Watch for Comet Atlas tonight 1/13 & tomorrow between 10 to 30 min after sunset: " people with an unobstructed view of the western horizon might be able to catch it in the evening as the sun sets." "On the evening of the 14th, the comet will set 35 minutes after the sun and will be positioned about 7 degrees almost directly above the sun at the time of local sunset."

I didn't see the comet but lots of really bright stars/planets.

Even if i woke up on time it would have been too late

I had a caffeine reaction yesterday & had to leave work early... don't plan on repeating that any time soon. Doing better today.
