yeah, any contact is appreciated so much by the older generation especially since we (grandkids) are their legacy. One of the nice things about our technological age is that we can now respond in face time and quickly with texts, emails and as their handwriting skills fail they can at least still type and if someone sets up skype or google chat or something similar for them they can now see us too.

Today we think of technology as silicon chips, but the tech that silicon displaces today was paper (books, letters, and photos). Paper was a huge step in technology for humans. Earlier tech were hand tools and fire. As wonderful and advanced as we think we are, it wouldn't take much to send us back to the 19th century tech-wise.
