Scattered my uncle's ashes today, so off of work with bereavement
And since he was a Vietnam vet, got the motorcycle cavalcade, 21 gun salute, etc
Several people recognized the cavalcade setting up and honked as they drove by. As we headed to the cemetery for the ceremonies there at least one person pulled over, even though we took up only one lane
Scattered his ashes up in the little woods like we did grandma n grandpa. Some got in someone's hair, as per tradition that accidentally started with grandma's ashes and then intentionally continued with grandpa's
Mom n dad were surprised I showed up in black, and not work clothes. Black capris, black and white dress shirt, not my ink-stained work shorts. I know better than that
Dad wore a dress shirt and tie for the ceremonial stuff, for the ash scattering and party he changed to a t-shirt that reads "I'm the nicest asshole you'll ever meet", when he showed it to several people, my uncle's immediate family went "WEAR IT" because my uncle would've gotten a kick out of it
Supervisor told me yesterday he was gonna show up early today to have a chat with the one guy because as long as they keep going "Oh this second shift stuff js temporary, we don't need to worry about backups," we keep getting screwed over. We had no material handler yesterday, so one of our TWO mechanics had to do that. I'm the printer, no backup. Closest we have to one is only trained for the manual printers, and so she can do some basic stuff with the autos due to crossover, but once tools are required she has no idea. Same with the supervisor. He also agrees we need people to be breakers because having the printer and material handler locked to the lines for breaks is a massive pain
So i imagine today was a shitshow in the printer world. Oh well
