It means everyone can order everything. Sometimes deploying code accidentally breaks some other part of the program, and when that happens it is usually the user who first sees the error. The goal is to reduce interruptions to the customer's experience in hugh stress times.

There are shipping cutoffs for a lot of sites, like order today and get it in 3 days, order before 1 and get it on monday, etc. The last cutoff that will make packages arrive before Christmas is definitely the most important one to not break. Fixes to super important bugs can still go out, but regulr changes, new features, etc are stopped.

I've always been a software person for this kind of event, if that is what you mean. All the companies I have worked at do a shut down for christmas kind of approach.

Big companies don't necessarily shut down completely for a holiday, there is generally a skeleton crew working over time to keep things running.

Nah, around Christmas, the shift kept getting cancelled, for us, we have a Spring peak, and that's the busiest time of the year. Haven't gone through my first spring peak yet, but judging by what people have said, I'll need to improve my work flow a lot before then. ^^

CNY is indeed one of the most celebrated holidays so yea for some it's long comparatively to christmas cuz it has more emphasis

It's because the volume of cube goes up, that's when we start shipping canoes and big stuff like that, because the weather is warming up. ^^

Yeah, but in Canada, we love the great outdoors! Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, hiking, geocaching, biking, camping, snowshoeing, skiing, skating, fishing, ice fishing, etc.
So much stuff we can do,
