Little Dave passed away today he was my almost 3 year old red eared slider




I couldn’t get all the way out to my dad’s to burry him I wouldn’t be able to go to dad’s till next month and he would smell by then but next to my apartment complex is a field that they were going to do something with but abandoned the project last year so there is a dump truck size mound of dirt they dumped there a year ago and I have nothing to dig a hole so I put him in a small box sat him under a tree and pushed a mound of dirt on him so he’s above ground but underneath dirt pile but I’ll have to go put more if it rains good but if they ever decide to do something with the field and stuff I’m going to have to go move him and take him to dad’s yard hopefully by then he will be non stinky or hopefully they will not do anything to the field but I know it sounds stupid but if I have to I will move him I’m not going to watch a bulldozer do him out like that I don’t have any kids but he was 1 of my 4 and I want him in a proper undisturbed spot and he really needs to be underground

Oh Gizzie! I am SO sorry to hear of your loss! I know you love your little guys so much.

It probably helps at the moment to know his grave is so close to where you are right now. Later you can make some decisions on when to move him.

Dave was the little red ear slider with the long Freddy Kruger nails that I adopted that was only like 2 years old around November I think he started having eye issues and he wouldn’t open them but otherwise he would eat swim etc but not open his eyes he did everything blind like so I got eye drops because I looked up turtle vitamin deficiency and stuff and eye drops for that so it seemed to be working they got less swollen and less red and he actually opened them so I was like yay and stuff and then I can home January 5th to him in the water already gone

Oh and I got another turtle too I adopted a red ear slider and 5 fish from my niece this past weekend this one is about the size of a silver dollar WAY TINY




So now I have Cheech and Chonga red eared sliders about 15 years old

And tiny new one that I need to post pics of Shell - till I find out if it’s a girl or boy then it’s Shelly/Sheldon
