I have no idea. We're tight on money since my dad lost his job, so it might be best not to do the egg hunt this year.

npixelz, you can always make items for giving away for the younder kids. Some people still do the boiled eggs for Easter and eat those which can be cost effective if you like boiled eggs...or put a dime or nickel in an egg and let them collect those...but you would be surprised how cheap some of the candy can get closer to Easter.

Nah, the ones hunting the eggs are usually me and my sister, lol. It's my parents who hide them. And they're chocolate eggs. I just think it'd be better to just not do that this year.

i was going to suggest kinder eggs but then realised they're banned in some places of the world ;;
yea easter themed choco eggs are a bit pricey in hong kong so i can totally understand that~ perhaps you could still celebrate it by getting your family some candy? as a kid i used to paint on egg shaped toys

Well...there comes a time when we all stop the Easter egg hunting anyway...buy the candy after Easter when it is 75% off. :wink:

Kinder eggs here are pricey...about $1.50 each...sometimes you can get them for 99 cents but rarely.

Too much candy (actually pretty much any candy is really poison to humans) or too many eggs are really bad for you. I guess we need to re-think Easter celebrations a little...

Then again, when I was a kid, we only did a real egg hunt once! After that it was plastic eggs with candy inside...

@Lemon
oh.. rip
all candy is around the same price point in hong kong so i'm not rlly sure about what option is the cheapest c": we don't have an after easter sale because not enough people celebrate it haha but the after halloween sale is definitely a time to stock up!

galled
no one said we had to eat them all D:: but you're right, i've been cutting back the more i get health concious
oo did they use boiled eggs or raw eggs in the hunt??

Ukrainian's paint the outside of the eggs....and sometimes very elaborately.

I think I have only heard of egg hunts with boiled eggs so that they don't break...but I have heard of relay's run with holding a raw egg on a spoon.

We used dye on hard boiled eggs one year in nursery school (the kind of dye that didn't involve boiling water!). Invariably, some joker dyed raw eggs--what a mess!

god i am so incredibly sorry for disappearing >_>;; exams and graduation were insane but i'm back now!!
@Lemon Cheesecake
Do they paint on real eggs or fake ones? it must be such a shame for all that effort to go to waste if the egg cracked or anything!
galled
O-o what happens when you dye a raw egg??

Congrats on graduating!! Must be a huge relief... at least for a little while!

Raw eggs dye fine. They look ok, but they break and leak like a raw egg and spoil very quickly! Ewwww!!
