Nothing atm, she lives in California and I'm an Ontarioan. Which is why I was surprised when she asked me out, since she had, at one point, said that she's not a fan of long distance. But! I plan on maybe playing some online games with her, and we've been voice chatting and text chatting on Discord!

I've been better.

Yeah. She's had bad relationships in the past. Some abusive ones. And she has trauma from them. She realized she couldn't fight it and didn't want things to go badly, so she ended it before that could happen. She IS going to go to therapy, so maybe one day we can try again.

While it may sound cynical and cold hearted, having been in similar situations and thinking the best thing you can do is be her friend and be supportive because I like them and this is what a good person does naturally, the reality ended up being problems they could never get past/accept/live with and endless drama. They became terrible emotionally and physical draining cycles that become traps that are extremely hard to break away from to save yourself. I hope this doesn't become one of those for you. You should just be aware such situations are out there. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that you broke up. If she wants you as a friend for now best be there for her in that way. It's good that she realised that she needed to seek help with her trauma before getting into another relationship. I hope you're ok, npixelz.

She obviously was interested in you if she asked you out & still wants to be friends, glad she could be honest with you and herself and not lead you on. You can encourage her as she opens up to you ...just don't get caught up in drama.
Friendships can lead to committing to a life long partnership, in fact if you ever get married, in my opinion, you should marry someone who is your friend first. The "romance whirlwind" can end quickly and you need a foundation to make it last. The relationships that last are the ones that enjoy being with each other.
