I get so used to how it is around where I live that I forget it isn't the same every where. Another reason to be thankful that I have many choices around where I am.

Yep, it is super interesting to learn that other places are different. Being online and chatting with everyone, I don't always remember that they live in other parts of the world.

I'm always trying to remember where everyone is from and be mindful of time zones and foreign countries. For me it's easier to assume that everyone in the United States experiences the same thing when, just in this country alone, things can be quite different.

Sounds good, I'm about to have dinner. But now I remember I was going to eat sushi and now can't cause we're having something else for dinner.

Watery: did you eat your sushi yet? Was your appointment informative?

What a warm day today, everything is so green from last weeks shower.

Sushi: Eaten and it was delicious, thanks.

My appointment was the opposite. It was a waste of time. Found out the rheumatologist I saw doesn't treat fibro. He can only diagnose it. I wasn't told that over the phone. I now have to call back and see if the neighboring office has anyone that can *treat* it. So frustrating. S.O. had to reschedule his oil change and then it wasn't even necessary.

He then took our pup to the vet. Routine checkup. They said he had gingivitis and recommended he come in for a dental exam. He scheduled it for the 22nd. It'll be pricey but thankfully we can handle it.

I am so sorry to hear that, I guess a good lesson is to confirm with the office before you go in? Can't the doc at least take of the arthritis?

Ya, it is irritating when you make plans only to have them fall apart and worse when you made exceptions to accommodate those plans only to have them be a waste of time like you said. ugh.

try giving the dog some "teeth/milk bones" and brushing its teeth. gingivitis is just irritated gums.

eh I guess but I really feel like I should have been told when making the appointment over the phone. Do they really expect people to only seek a diagnosis? Does he not realize that rheumatologists are the specialists that people with fibro are told to see? I guess not.

I had done some research months ago and greenies and milk bones don't help all that much. I have talked to him about getting a bone to chew on. I saw a video of a vet going over all the different types of things and it sounded like finding the right type of bone for my dog would be the best. I haven't been well enough to go check out the local dog stores though. I might just give my s.o. a list and links online.

I think it would still be good for his teeth to get looked at.

probably, just hate for you to have to be spending so much money. But I guess you can ask the vet what home treatment to do for next time.

I would have assumed a specialist would treat my situation and not just diagnose. I often wonder how qualified people really are these days.

Well the good thing is that the cost of it will only be 1 month's disability benefit. We still have his paycheck to fall back on. He recently got a new car that he doesn't have to start paying until late December. The new PS4 has been the biggest purchase however with all this it just means no more buying things this month (besides groceries etc).

He explained his field of expertise but I couldn't absorb what he was saying. It wasn't pain management but something else. I couldn't comprehend at the time how a rheumatologist could say they weren't a pain management specialist. And on top of that to tell me to see a "Pain management specialist" but not name what specialist that is. Like, another rheumatologist? But be sure it's one that specializes in treating pain? e.e

hmm, I think there are pain management clinics around? Isn't Fibro more of a neurological problem then an autoimmune? Isn't rheumatoid arthritis more of an autoimmune problem? Have you tried taking probiotic pills for the fibro? I am surprised the Doctor didn't give you any reading material or a referral.

Fibro isn't something neurologist treat, I've tried that route. Rheumatologist treat it normally because I think it's cause it's a similar approach as treating arthiritus though not the same prescriptions.
Well after talking with my s.o. and the dr, there didn't seem to be anything he could do or say that I didn't already know. But I did remind myself to ask about getting checked for lyme disease again. Learned during my disability hearing that it had not been ruled out by my doctor. He said he could test for lyme but my primary doctor can do the same so why bother with him?

Anyway enough about me. This is your thread. How are you doing? Have you made plans for Thanksgiving yet?

Last ear I bought a "fresh" turkey thinking it would be better but it turned out drier then the previously frozen ones I have gotten before so since the frozen are cheaper and the taste isn't any different then I think I will just get a frozen turkey. I like to make homemade soup with the leftovers - yum.
