Yep, I can see my grandparents for the holidays. It has been quite a while since I have seen some family members.

Is the family spending Thanksgiving and Christmas together? - do you think you will get snow for Christmas?

We moved from South Carolina to Pennsylvania. We will definately get snow for Christmas here.
Most of my family still lives in PA, so now that we are only a couple hours away rather than 12 hours or so away, we can visit them more.

There was a grocery store that did that before we moved, but you would have to spend about $400 in regular groceries before you got enough "turkey points" to get a free turkey.

No reason besides some prefer chicken to turkey. I prefer white meat too.

Ah, ok. ^_^
We mostly have chicken all year round, but the fresh turkey is more around this time of the year.
The rest of the year, it is thinner, lunch meat type turkey.

dragoness, that will be good for the girls to know extended family.

A couple of our grocery stores sell roasted turkey breasts in the hot deli section throughout the year on certain days of the week only though as there isn't a very high demand. I really don't know why people don't eat the turkey as much as they do chicken. Does it cost more to raise turkey's?

That's nice that you're close to your family now.

I've been getting the lunchmeat turkey for sandwiches. I guess chicken is just more popular.

Sometimes I will boil the whole chicken and the meat comes out so tender and then I use the broth for soup.

Hmm, that is a good question. Maybe Chickens breed faster?
I love the Renaissance faire turkey drumsticks. So big! Sometimes Walmart will sell the legs too.

I can only eat so much turkey before I've had enough. I can have it small portions regularly (turkey sandwiches for example), but after a big dose like at Thanksgiving, I'd rather eat something else. :/

Maybe the tryptophan? The fact it can make you sleepy?

I'm thinking about how something like that can affect you when you're at work or busy. I noticed that it needs something else to trigger the effect so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I think it is more to do with the taste, If given an option say for chicken pot pie versus turkey pot pie for instance, most people will pick the chicken pot pie. I think chicken is less flavored and could be a reason.
