tea eggs are different to 1000 year old eggs! in taiwan we eat more of tea and soy eggs! you can get them in convenience stores like 7/11 most of the time and it's affordable and really good! tea eggs are typically boiled in a ton of spices, they're usually eaten by themselves while soy eggs are boiled with pork and soysauce to make a stew eaten with rice! (my favourite is soy quail eggs... they're so good)
thousand year old eggs are kind of a luxury item lol they're eaten cold most of the time but they're pretty popular in congee! i'm not the biggest fan because of the weird jelly texture to be honest, but my dad loves them!
