No. Straight hair is good because you can style it without much effort.

just past my shoulders- I agree I can braid it or pull it back or pin it up and longer hair makes me feel like my head is bigger.

Hmm. I felt kinda similar before i got my hair cut. I regretted it at first but now i like it much better. I used to hate tying it up because it made my forehead look huge but now it looks better in my opinion and all i did was get a fringe. I used to have the dorkiest fringe when i was little and i never wear it out but just having it tucked to the side with some hair clips seemed to make it better.
Try something different and see how you feel

I've had layers before but never really happy with them, I see some real cute short hair cuts but not sure if I would dare go that short...especially since it seems to take months for the hair to grow and you can't pull short hair into a bun or anything to hide it if you don't like it.

While my friend that just got it cut, can hardly pull the hair into a tiny little pony tail
My other friend has her hair the perfect length to tie up.
I fail at putting my hair into a bun... I'll probably get someone to teach me when my fringe grows out so then I can part it and leave it out of the bun and look really swaggy and cool
