Diana said the next clue isn't available until 24 hours after you last found a clue.

Ooooh. Wait, so if I played really late one day, then I'll have to wait until the morning two days later?

It means that it can get pushed back later and later if you don't play the event game(and get the clue) the same time each day. So you could end up being an extra day behind.
I started around ~11AM the first day and I've been playing a couple hours later each day. I think now, 5PM my time, is when I can get today's clue.
