I still would consider them starters, since the only way to obtain outside of yellow, is a starter.

Yup though I believe there is the Shiny Clause that states if you catch a shiny you are allowed to keep it!

That's how I feel with them in X and Y they are still starters despite not being giving out at the get go.

Yeah, there's such a clause, but I doubt I'd do anything with it, bit hard to move shinnies around atm, and I'm not really a collector, I just enjoy playing the games.

I was so disappointed when my first shiny in ruby was a wurmple... That evolved into a cascoon..... Uhg! Shiny dustox is so hideous.

I seem to attract shiny bug Pokemon.... The only other shiny I have ever found is a Kricketune.... /smashes head into a wall/ why bug types!?

Well at least you have come across some shinies, even if not of your own hunting. To be honest mine was completely after being in the same area forever.... The Kricketune was in the area of black.... White 2? Whichever version where at the city where the three gym leaders there was the side area where you found the munna... And the levels were in the fifties or something...? I was using that place to grind. And then in ruby I was addicted to the radar thing and when I finally called it quits and walked into some grass I found the shiny wurmple.

Eh... Just mainly if you don't like the original color... Take skitty for example... Horribly pink... But the shiny is red. xD and its just for show off if you want... Or maybe I good trading chip?
