I had family's visitors from China trying to teach me some mandarin once and then they would break out laughing when I tried to say it and the girl who was teaching me would tell me what I said was something completely different then what I intended so I left it at just saying -hello, goodby and thank you. :grin_wink:

I wish I had the attention span and time to learn languages.
They're all so pretty and fun.

I greatly admire those who can speak and understand more then one language...but I do believe the best time to begin learning is childhood.

Yeah, you need to start early.
At least I think it's easier.

Just basic things like ABC's, some colors, family members and wheels on the bus. q vq

Tagalog is filipino or burmese or ?

Gizzie, don't give up on me, I still want to do the charity thread but life has been extremely crazy right now and my brain isn't thinking too clearly.

I can do a little sign language - more that I can sign the words to others then read what others sign to me.

I took sign language middle school and high school I know quite a bit and I even know songs because we learned songs and the teacher filmed us and showed them to her deaf students that she taught at another school as well :) In middle school we also acted out beauty and the beast on stage and it was all signed (our lines)
I know the songs- I swear, and the country song Romeo by Dolie Parton, Tootsie roll, Stand by me, and could probally do more

I know what Tagalog I know because my friend on another avi site (now shutdown) was Phillipeno and I was learning stuff

My spanish come from working with majority hispanics and then my spanish cuse words from my half spanish cousins

maybe you can use the sign language to get a job? If you are proficient at it the courts pay a lot for translators.

Just saw my typo I ment Lean on me not stand by me....

That's a good idea I think I should take some more college classes on it first because I really don't know like court type words and stuff

And I am not sure if my bad background would affect me working with government law type jobs or not I kinda have flaws on my record mostly money wise and bank stuff though

well, there are translators needed for t.v. etc too and you could always teach it for an adult community class. It is something to look into since not that many people can do it.

errr if im not mistaken, finance-related records would only really affect you if you want to apply for loans.
it doesn't quite affect your credibility in court.....
