The Easter egg hunts are starting up in the community and kids are coming out in masses!

no volunteering recently, well, I do volunteer at a beaver (scouting) colony every week.

Beaver scouts or actual beaver colony with actual beavers (who build dams and cut down trees with their teeth)?

are beaver scouts the little ones? I've heard of eagle scouts - are those the older ones?

I've never heard of any of the separate divisions.

I think Eagle Scouts are a trademark of The Boy Scouts of America (they also have Cub Scouts--which are the youngers). I'd never heard of Beaver Scouts before, but I know there were Woodchucks at one time.

-shrugs- I have girls myself, so I don't know of these things.

There were some court cases brought up against the Boy Scouts and I believe since then are now open to girls. (Kind of silly, but I expect the Girl Scouts to have a similar suit against it to accept boys...) Beaver Scouts and other furry small animal scouting may be open to boys and girls. It's so complicated!...

I would think mixing them would help for a parent to have all their kids participate at the same time?

Yeah, sounds like it would be bothersome if parents had kids in different age groups
