lol, my stomach has been upset again and I really don't feel like eating much - not even ice cream. :worry:

no idea what is going on, seems like others have had lingering flu like symptoms too...are we all being poisoned...you know there have been quite a few food recalls... or just flu?

I should be able to make the wagashi today or tomorrow (needed to soak the beans for shiro-an for a night).

I just realized... if I made some green bean paste.. then perhaps I wouldn't need food coloring. Maybe I could make green bean flavored wagashi..

Oh well, I do have matcha, but I need to check it's color. ....Darn. I hope it's still a bright green. If not maybe I'll use pandan flavoring to color some nekiri wagashi to make clovers or something.

nekiri wagashi, I was thinking of trying this out. (The image is also a link to the recipe)

But I might make my own thing for St Patrick's Day if it turns out well.

Not as much as you think. You get dough, divide it into 3, color one yellow, color one pink/red, leave one white. wrap the yellow in the pink/red and the pink/red in the white. Use chopsticks to press down the center to show the yellow and the pink/red, use a flower-shaped cutter to give it the flower outline. Done!

Pretty much.

I'd love to try making wagashi when I have the free time.
Do remind me, yours are coming along great!

Well, those aren't mine. It's just a picture from the recipe book. I have to go home and spend a good 2 hours to prepare the shiro-an before I can try making nekiri wagashi. :P

Ah... Japanese?

I'd love to buy them if they were available, but I haven't seen a place that sells them. Though it's possible I just missed them in some odd aisle or something.

My grandparents were.
genetically I am Japanese, but I'm not really into it like, dunno, internet anime fans xD

There are many japanese immigrants here, so there are some shops that import products.
