Yeppers, while growing up, we tend to get some live tree, every year. Especially, the smaller tree and then BAM! Fake tree for years. xD

We're strictly a fake tree household now (built in LED lights for low power and programability). The real tree thing seems so wasteful IMHO (even if you "recycle" it by burning it--CO2 anyone?). Re-planting never worked for us. Don't get me started on the mess (and bugs!).

I'm curious when the "tradition" of bringing a Christmas tree into our homes started. It seems so many of our Christmas "traditions" were actually created in the last couple hundred years (most less than that) by companies looking to sell more stuff... consumerism in the western world...

Don't get me wrong, I love the holiday season. But it's interesting how the bad ideas just got folded into it and almost universally accepted.

There was a coca cola advertisement with Santa that became popular & the U.S. had a holiday stamp that looked like that coca cola image on it a few years back.

Do Asian countries even do a Santa thing or is it only a western or European tradition?

The US has a year of the dragon stamp.

I feel like dragon's had to have been real. Maybe not breathing fire but possible for wings. Just look at all the new dinosaur artifacts they are finding ... maybe they are buried deep below the ocean and we just don't know!

In any pictures I've seen of old/traditional dragons they've got a mixture of characteristics of all animals. The feathers always led me to think they are mythical creatures. Then I learned that birds evolved from the dinosaurs and they've found fossil imprints of feathers on a few dino fossils. There is one school of thought that the lizard skin we all imagine dinos to have may not be accurate (they were covered in precursors to scales, fur and/or feathers). I think all legends we know have some basis in truth.

See ... bearded dragons are a good example!
And what about the komodo dragon as well ... it still survives.

Here's ten dragons & beasts

There's even a "flying" dragon ( tiny though).
