Naaah, no it was a story I wanted to write. Working title is probably something like "The cultivation of a tortoise"

Y'know all those immortals who blast their way up to the top with lightning speed? Yeah, not this guy. When phoenixes and dragons soar through the air, tigers and qilin's race across the earth, and creatures from the deep streak through the seas... the tortoise dutifully plods his way across the land.

But then he definitely has to have some sort of life preserving technique or treasure........

Hum... not sure. I was planning to have him be capable enough to make it to immortality, but well... he's not fast, no strong sect backing him, he's not a heavenly young master or anything.

If he has some life preserving technique... it's only going to be something that increases his lifespan, and/or reduces his need to eat.
