I swear, every time someone mentions a store that also happens to be a persons name, I think they're talking about an actual person. Like Mike's, Claire's, Spencer's, etc.

Meanwhile, here I am, someone who dislikes online shopping out of fear of being scammed, or the local post office delivers my package to the wrong house because their employee can't read, or it getting damaged while getting delivered either by accident or the employee being an ass and tossing the package around because they hate their job.

The mall I go to still is going good and I'd hate to see the day it goes down. It still gets good business so I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Monkeygirl - priority packages come with $50 of insurance automatically so if you receive a damaged package you can put a claim in. You can also complain to your local Postmaster if their staff is not perfroming their tasks appropriately, and you do have the option of refusing a package if it is damaged.

Yeah, that's why my mom won't let me shop online. It's a valid concern.

If you only have a debit card, then yes. Keep it offline! However, with credit cards (and not a secured credit card--where you have money on hold) you're not responsible for any unauthorized purchases made with it. I've had my card number stolen a couple of times and never lost anything other than the time to make a phone call and sign a statement. It's really pretty safe if you shop with a credit card and take the usual precautions (good passwords, don't share your account info, etc.).

In that case, PayPal is a good option if you have a bank account. I've never lost money with PayPal--they, like credit card companies offer protection for the user.

You've been working long enough now. You should apply for a credit card. Store cards are easiest to get (try Target or Best Buy--ones you can only use at that store). Establishing and maintaining good credit is one of the most important things you'll do in life.

Makes sense. I need to get a card for my work. Because if I get a card for the company, then I get a discount. I'd mostly just let my dad use it since it doesn't really sell anything that interests me. But either way, a discount is always nice.

A company card won't affect your personal credit report I think. You want to establish your own credit.
