Each country has it's own specific "independence" or unifying country day they celebrate. USA is July 4th, Canada is July 1st.

I think there is too much pressure to buy Mom's gifts for Mother's day...Mom's just want to be reminded that they are loved.

Yeah and it's the same for Father's Day. Although I have an easier time buying my dad gifts than I do my mom. He loves books. lol

Potted orchids are nice because the blooms last a long time. If you keep them in the same container and don't water them often and leave them in a south facing window they will rebloom. I'll have to take a picture of my orchid plants that rebloom.

noooooooooooooo that can't be true mdom! I hope you are just joking! Look on the bright side .... and give her a hug and thank her for the sacrifices she has made to have you and raise you because being a parent is not an easy job and a parent often is worried about the job they did.

Yeah, she's always beating herself up for not being a good mom, but I always tell her she's the best in everything except in finding a husband. Then I laugh to pretend it's a joke.

if she didn't worry about trying to get a husband then she'd probably be a lot happier! When we are so set on trying to find a mate then we usually screw it up because we are looking out of loneliness or desperation instead of looking around at those potential mates who enjoy the same things we do and are some where near by.

or not having a mate... I know some people who have never married and seem quite content with their lives, and don't have any regrets about not marrying. I know people who have no regrets not having children either and on the flip side people who are now seniors who regret not having kids to have grandkids by now.

I suppose it all depends on what we can be content with?

It's a jab at my dad |D
Well, now he's old and all and already asked for forgiveness for how he raised us.

Mdom- at least he recognizes he messed up - doesn't take back the mistakes though. Are your Mom and Dad still together then?

Yes, 35 years together.
I guess the older he gets the more possessive of her he gets.

Hehehe, true. He needs us for most things nowadays. I mean, he can still go out on his own, but driving is a no-no.
