I always forget to check for moon phases and special events such as meteor showers.

Finally remembered to upload my pictures from April 7th! Sorry for the low quality. One can only take so many "decent shots" with a small telescope and an Android phone. You can kinda make out Jupiter's 4 moons as the small dots accompanying the one bright giant dot in the picture.

Jupiter's still pretty bright out there tonight but its moved away from the moon. I couldn't see Jupiter's moons with my binoculars anymore but I could with my zoom lens - however still not able to get very good photo as it won't seem to maintain the focus.

A few days ago, I saw a blue speck in the sky. Not sure which planet it was.

A few stars appear blue. Uranus and Venus can appear blue, but Venus can only be seen very early in the morning and low on the horizon and Uranus requires a telescope, so I'd rule them out. Hmm, I think mdom is right. It was probably Jupiter.

FYI, if you have an Android phone with a built in compass, Google Sky is an awesome app. Just point your phone in the sky and it'll show and name what you're looking at. Pretty amazing if you haven't tried it. Highly recommended!

There are some really cool night sky maps out on the app market. 2 apps that I know work well for iPhones and Android phones are: SkyPortal by Celestron and Star Walk

A cool online star map that I use is Astroviewer.com, which can show you the current night sky over a given location! In my skies right now, Saturn and the Moon are rising and Jupiter is heading west
