-cackles-

Okay since today is technically another day...
Two days ago dad went to check on the leech bed and it's flooding. Badly
Yesterday, the hot water heater went
Dunno how the leech bed's gonna get fixed, but roommate called around and got a friend of a friend thing going and so we're getting a "used" hot water heater for a lot less than new
And the quotes cuz it was one of those ship out, box opened, wrong type, tape up, send back unused kind of deals
Certainly a lot more affordable than brand new unopened

Time to pump the septic tank too? Dig a new leach field? Your poor dad!

So, Home Depot sometimes offers a year to pay on a certain purchase - like $250 I think. If the friends hot water tank doesn't work maybe see if you can get a new one just paying through out the year on it....

do you have a Habitat for humanity restore near you? That's where people donate used or new building materials (like people with money who didn't like their set up/appliances and tear it out and redo it)or construction people have left overs etc and you can get stuff for very little price or maybe free. I know someone who volunteered and they said there is some really good stuff that comes in.

check out habitat.org and see if there is a place near you.

Holy crap sounds about right! So what does dad say about the leach thing? Can it be fixed? Poor guy. Hope he doesn't stress the ticker...

Dunno about the leech bed, but I know that the giant-ass willow nearby has caused problems before

Apparently the stuff dad got is all the wrong size because this place is old and the pipes are way out of code so that's a screwball and a half and the fridge is dying
Oh, and my doctor's appointment is tomorrow

Plumbing sizes are all screwball anyway. 1/2" pipe measure 5/8" on the OD, and there's there's pipe thread and hose thread--which are different, but look very similar. Same with dimensional lumber... How much does a 2x4 measure out as? 1-1⁄2 by 3-1⁄2 inches, but length is exact. Sheesh...

I try to buy all possible sizes and just return the stuff that isn't right. I mean, I end up going back to the home center/hardware store anyway (I always forget something or break something else, or expose a new problem!). Such is the home repair treadmill...

2x4 is the starting size of the boards

But half inch for plumbing, particularly for the sole bathroom in the house, is way not to code
I think plumbing is minimum inch and a half now?
Plus hard water makes them even smaller
It's a miracle we had any water pressure at all, upstairs or downstairs

It'll be to see if what's been going on is anxiety, thyroid, or combo

Right now I'm thinking combo

No
Mom thinks that it got worse after I left school
Idk tho

Either way lack of water sucks
Cuz no bathroom
So no flushing
Right now the toilet prolly should be flushed
Dunno what we're supposed to do until dad fixes it, even if it's some temporary thing so we do have water
Tho that might be what he's working on

We can get by without electricity (although we go through internet withdrawals), and no heat sucks too, but we can cope if it's not crazy cold. But no water would be really tough. Can you get water from a exterior hose bib? Dad may have just turned it off to the house so he can work on it. On our house interior and exteriors are on different shutoffs.
