Your best bet would be to get an amateur, small telescope. No one really needs that
heavyhigh-tech, large, cool telescope (unless you're really, really into astronomy and astro-photography or so).
PLUS, you don't really need a telescope anyway. Watching an asteroid fly-by in a telescope is nice, but it's also a big hassle
Seeing a meteor shower with the naked eye and having the satisfaction of knowing that YOU witnessed that without visual aide is, for me, a whole lot cooler!!
P.S. Everyone keep their eyes out on the constellation Lyra for the Lyrids meteor shower from tonight to dawn tomorrow!
