I knew some guy that had his computer plugged into a light switched socket. He'd flip the wall switch to power up, power down, and reboot his computer. <slaps forehaed> Drove me crazy!!!

What program were you writing in? Word automatically makes backups for example, so you might be able to recover a previous version of your doc.

I use WPS Office. It's basically a free Microsoft Word.

I actually came here to say that it did restore my unsaved doc. It's definitely a relief.

Glad it worked out. WPS, Libre, Kingsoft, etc are really good clones. I don't like MS's subscription model and how they change the menu system so much. I can't find anything after an upgrade...
